                                              American Born Chinese Reading Response

         
               In the book American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang ,  A boy, Jin Wang tries to fit in when people only see him as Chinese. He tries to change who he is, he rejects people trying to help him and deals with racial stereotypes. Jin wants to change who he is when he should be himself. 


             Jin tries to change who he is. When Jin sees that the girl he likes is talking to a kid with a Afro he decides that he should get a Afro. When his cousin visits him he wants to change high schools because he dosent want to be known as his cousin. He also leaves his friend wei-chen and wants to cahnge. Jin wants to change when he should stay the same. 
            
            Jin rejects people that are trying to help. When his friend Wei-Chen tries to help him along Jin gets mad at him and leaves him. When his parents try to help him he simply ignores them. He does not want people to think he needs help so he pushes them away, but that just makes people want to help him even more then they already do. Jin wants to change but he should stay the same.

            In conclusion, Jin tries to fit in when people only see him as Chinese. He tries to change who he is, he rejects people trying to help him and deals with racial stereotypes. He tries to change who he is. He eventually should have accepted what he had.
